A Brief Overview of the Marine Corps

Despite being the smallest branch of the armed forces in the Department of Defense, The United States Marine Corps is one of the most revered. Originally established during the Revolutionary War in 1775, the Marines have built a reputation for honor, courage, strength, integrity and, of course, loyalty. In fact, their motto, Semper Fidelis, means “always faithful.”

Today, there are roughly 250,000 active and reserve Marines. And while they may be small relative to other US military branches, each Marine maximizes efficiency. On average, it costs $20,000 less to fund the services of a Marine compared to soldiers in other branches; in addition, the Marines have the capability to organize both amphibious and expeditionary missions. Citizens show their support for the troops in myriad ways—from simply hanging an American flag to wearing Marine rings.

When I was a boy, my father bought me several model planes, never thinking he was doing more than feeding my curious interest in airplanes. However, when I was 18 I had aspirations of joining the Air Force. I took the test and placed high enough to enter the Air Force, and thus was set on my career path. spent fifteen years in the Air Force, it was a wonderful experience, though I flew a few dangerous missions.  Now I am a pilot for a major commercial airliner, and have a son who has shown a lot of interest in “daddy’s planes”, all the models I made when I was younger.

Though I worry about his safety, I’m sure he would be a wonderful pilot. Just like my dad had done for me, I bought him a model plane for his eighth birthday last week. I also decided to give him one of my prized Air Force rings, which he has always had an affinity for.

The Perfect Gift for Grandpa

I love my grandpa, but I have to admit that he’s hard to shop for. Every time his birthday comes around, I start feeling a sinking feeling in my stomach because I know I won’t be able to find anything for him. But this year I wanted to avoid the anxiety and get him a gift he would be sure to love. Here’s a fact everyone should know about grandpa: he worships the United States Army.

Thinking about grandpa’s love for the military brought something to mind — I would get him some sort of gift to reflect his interest in the army! When I started shopping, I came across some armed forces jewelry that would be perfect. There were so many choices, making a decision was difficult, but I finally settled on one of their Army rings. I am so happy I found a solution to the grandpa gift question.

Support the Troops

For four generations my family has been proud to serve in the US military. We see it as our duty to protect our country’s freedoms and spread the word of democracy throughout the world. Admittedly it has been difficult, especially when my three boys informed us that they would all be serving tours of duty overseas during the current conflicts.

We realize, however, that this is what we signed up for. Everyone in the family has made a commitment to support one another and do everything that we can to make life easier while they are away. Not only do we show our support through our actions, but we also let the public see our allegiances through our military rings, bumper sticks and the American flag that waves in front of our home.

Service in the Air Force

Service in the Air ForceIt’s well known that some of the most intelligent people in the military are found in the Air Force.  The Air Force works in tandem with various other branches of the military, most often the Navy, and Air Force pilots have some of the most demanding and complex jobs.  The Air Force is the often one of the first branches of the military to enter combat, whether supporting parachuting infantry, striking down enemy strongholds, or scouting for combatants.  The Air Force is one of the most respected branches of the military, and Air Force pilots often have extensive job offers even after retiring from the military.  Air Force pilots often become pilots for commercial airliners, flight instructors, or air traffic control personnel.

For the special Air Force member in the family, consider purchasing Air Force rings for their retirement, induction, or successful campaign.  It’s important to support for our family and friends in the Air Force as their job is critical to the protection of our country.  Show support for an Air Force member with Air Force rings!

Recognizing Distinguished Service

Whether returning from field duty or retiring from active duty, a military ring is a great gift for recognizing the contribution of someone in the service.  It’s important that soldiers be recognized despite however the population feels about the war.  It’s not a soldier’s duty to question their orders, it’s their duty to protect the people, ideals, and interests of their country through following their orders.  Military rings are a great tradition amongst people in the service.  You can find military rings available for all the different branches of the military, including Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marines.  These rings symbolize the contribution military service members gave to their country, and also their patriotism and fealty to a cause that greater than themselves.

Military rings make great gifts from parents, grandparents, and even spouses.  The ring will serve as a reminder of the soldier’s sacrifices to protect their loved ones and their country.

Bonds that Never Break

I admire the men who exhibit their courage and bravery by fighting for our country. Many of these men even pay with their lives. Fellow Americans need to show their support of troops by offering thanks and welcoming them home. There are several ways to make military men know that they are appreciated.

One way is by gifting them with a present worthy of their experience at war. A Navy man, for example, may appreciate one of a vast selection of navy rings. This ring will enable him to remember the comrades he served with and the experiences that bonded them for life.

Amongst all the branches of the military, the Marines are without a doubt one of the fiercest and most proud.  Unlike other branches of the military that specialize in one area, Marines do it all.  Marines are the first branch of the military called upon when immediate action is necessary; they’re the first to enter conflict, and the last to leave.  Most people don’t have the physical or mental toughness to be a Marine; it takes extreme tenacity and dedication to both your body and mind.  There’s a reason the Marines are called the few and the proud, and that is because through their actions speak to their unique dedication to their country.

Because of the shared experiences, Marines are also one of the most tightly knit branches of the military.  Marines share a special bond with other Marines that isn’t quite the same amongst soldiers in other branches of the military.  Marines often celebrate their bond with Marine rings which they wear in public; a symbol which creates an instant bond with other Marines who recognize it.

Military Rings are worn by current and retired members of the military as a highly visible demonstration of their proud participation in a branch of service. Their appeal supersedes distinctions of rank, gender and age: military rings are worn by officers and enlisted personnel, men and women, and the young and old.
